This is really bad for the food as the fork will puncture holes into the meat allowing the natural flavors and juices to pour out. The holes will also cause the meat to be chewier then expected; instead use something that can handle the meat gently. Tongs are meant for this job, if you do not have any you could use a simple pair of chopsticks.
